(7482) 1994-PC1 occultation Jan. 19 UT 2022
Interactive Google Map
Here is an improved Occult occelmnt file for this event with osculating epoch close to the time of the occultation. It gives a path about 25 km west of the one generated with the occelmnt file posted before with osculating epoch 2022 Jan. 19.0. The new one, with the associated Google Earth .htm file, probably gives a prediction within the 10-km 1-sigma error for the event, but that's not certain; we're waiting for confirmation from Dave Herald in Australia and/or John Irwin in England. When you use the occelmnt file with osculating epoch Jan. 19.0 to calculate your local events, keep in mind these probable errors for other events larger than one or even two sigma in the Occult-generated predictions. Until we resolve these problems, mobile efforts to observe these other occultations are not recommended, and you are encouraged to try to observe any occultations that occur within 50 km of your home or observatory location. 1994 PC1 is about mag. 10.5, so observations of occultations of stars much fainter than that will produce relatively small magnitude drops that will be difficult to distinguish from noise events in your recording.
